Clue #1
Our city of Owen is 100 years old.
Named for a lumber man smart and bold.
Lumber was cut and shipped by rail.
Trains still pass through...horns blowing with a wail.
A golden rail spike has been hidden in town.
Search to locate it and become well renowned.
“City of Owen, 100 years” signs proclaim.
Locate the message and win this spike game!
Rules
1. Clues will be given in the Enterprise Sentinel and on the city website for three weeks.
2. First person to find the Golden Spike and follow the instructions located with it will be declared the winner.
3. The Golden Spike will be hidden somewhere in the city of Owen.
4. The Golden Spike will not be hidden on O-W School grounds, on or near the railroad tracks, on the water tower, or on church property.
5. No tools are needed to find the Golden Spike.
6. Do not damage property while searching for the Golden Spike.
7. Anyone is eligible to search for the Golden Spike except members of the Owen Jr. Fair Committee, employees of the City of Owen, or employees of the Enterprise Sentinel.
8. If the Golden Spike is not found by Saturday, September 6, a final clue will be handed to searchers gathered at the Fairground food stand at 9 a.m.
9. The winner will be awarded $100.
