January 24: The World’s Largest Pep Band returned for its 2024 appearance at the Owen-Withee boys basketball game against Gilman Friday, January 19. The band included O-W Band students along with O-W Alumni and a few area residents. Band Director Ryan Gutsch estimated the number of band members at 42.

February 7: Kaitlan Benzschawel collected her $475 prize from Owen Centennial Committee chairperson Scott Jalling after winning the 50/50 drawing at the boys basketball game against Spencer on February 2. The was the first fundraiser for the Owen Centennial.

March 6: The Woodgrove Workers 4-H Club earned a first for their performance of Stone Soup at the 4-H drama competition held at Thorp on March 2. Because of their blue-ribbon performance, the club will be invited to perform at the State Fair. March 13: Nine people are dead after they were involved in a crash on STH 95 by CTH J in the township of Dewhurst. A semi struck a van on its driver’s side. The only survivor of the accident was a two-year-old child. The van shows the results of the fire that occurred after the crash.

March 27: Last weekend, the Owen-Withee Blackhawk Archery team competed at the Wisconsin State Archery Tournament in Wisconsin Dells. The middle school Bullseye and 3D teams both qualified for the National Archery Tournament to be held in Louisville in May.

July 31: Flames ravaged Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Longwood, in the early morning hours of July 23. A view of the church with the parish hall in the background. The fire department was able to prevent the fire from spreading to the hall.

December 18: Marge Jalowicz donated her late husband’s plaque with gun, handcuffs and badges to the Owen-Withee Area Historical Society on December 14. Al Jalowitz served as Owen Chief of Police for 21 years. Marge and her sons Ken, Brian, John and Jim with the plaque.
