Last Saturday the Centennial Committee saw all their planning and hard work end in spectacular style with an awesome lumberjack show. The morning started out with lots of rain, but by noon it had let up enough for the first show to be performed. At the 2 o'clock show the crowd got a little bit bigger and by the final show the bleachers were full and it was standing room only. Timberworks Lumberjack Show didn't disappoint and had the crowd engaged in their performances. Thanks again to Prevail Bank for sponsoring this great event so we didn't have to charge an admission fee to all who came to participate in our Centennial celebration.
I'd like to put out a big thank you to all the employees of the City of Owen and the Centennial Committee for helping make this a successful event.
Thanks also goes out to the Owen-Withee Area Historical Society for serving Mauel's ice cream during our event. I didn't make it to the car show, but heard that it was also a success.
I hope everyone enjoyed and appreciated the hard work of the Centennial Committee for all the celebrations throughout the summer. Now let's all focus on the last event of the summer to celebrate the city of Owen with the Owen Junior Fair. Let's all get out and make this a memorable celebration as the theme of the weekend will be celebrating Owen turning 100. The dates of the fair are September 5, 6, and 7 so mark your calendars.
Centennial books are on sale now. Contact myself, Cindy Cardinal or Phil Greschner for more information. If you preorder a book by September 7, they are $20. After September 7, they are $30.
Until next time. Have a good week.
