Allen D. Gajewsky, age 91, of Owen, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 at his home under the tender care of Compassus Hospice.
A Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. Pastor Travis Rogers, Jr. officiated. Military Honors provided by Owen American Legion Post #123, Owen-Withee Vets Club and Thorp VFW Post #9057. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Allen was born on December 13, 1933, the son of Ernest and Susan (Brandau) Gajewsky in Norwalk, WI. He was united in marriage to Anne Nordstrom on August 7, 1954 in Sparta. Allen joined the U.S. Army in 1955, stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1957. He worked as an artificial inseminator for Tri State Breeders for 15 years and then worked at Clark County Health Care Center as head herdsman until his retirement.
Allen was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and was president and also sang in the choir. He liked hunting, fishing, gardening, canning, baking, carpentry, music and dancing. Allen also took fishing trips to Canada and hunting trips out west with family and friends. He also served his community as mayor, school board member, city council member, Clark County Development Corporation board member and helped with Farm Progress Days. Most importantly, he loved and cherished his family.
Allen is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anne; five children: Lori Scharer, Sara (Kevin) Thorson, Bob (Joyce) Gajewsky, Nicole (Travis) Rogers and Terri (Marty) Olson; 13 grandchildren: Justin (Tina) Scharer, Brandon (Christy) Scharer, Nathan (Krista) Scharer, Aaron Thorson (Renette Messing), Jill (Josh) Stumpner, Kurt (Alicia) Gajewsky, Erik Gajewsky, Alex (Becca) Gajewsky, Britney (Daniel) Iacono, Holly (Tony) Arias, Morgan (Dillon) Earnest, Quentin (Skylar) Goettl and Austin (Lizzie) Goettl; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by two brothers: Dick (Eileen) Gajewsky and Phil (Laura) Gajewsky; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four sisters: Ruby, Muriel, Janet and Alice.
