Randy Bergman began his duties as district administrator for O-W Schools on July 1. He lives in Medford and had previously served the Prentice School District as a principal and district administrator. He was at Prentice for 26 years. Prior to that he was a 5th grade teacher and coach in Rib Lake.
Randy grew up in Ogema and still has family there. He and his wife have three grown daughters who also either are or plan to be teachers.
Randy said “I love being around kids, seeing them grow up and make something of themselves.” He hopes to do a good job at O-W. He doesn’t feel like he can just sit around and do nothing. He will be here four days a week.
His advice to educators is to “set good expectations, make kids think they have to learn, and treat them with respect and you will get respect in return.”
He is enjoying his job so far and likes the staff members he has met, saying they have been very helpful.
In his spare time, Randy likes to fish and ride ATV with his wife. He also wants to be part of the O-W community and plans to be at many school events. He and his wife are both WIAA swim officials, which is something fun they can do together.
He is a family person and is looking to forward to moving closer to his daughters and helping with grandchildren when the time comes, but for now he will be devoting his time to the staff and students at Owen-Withee School.
Please welcome Randy Bergman to the community if you see him around school or around town.
