The primary is only a few days away and I don’t know how to vote. I had my governor candidate picked out and then they dropped out of the race. I had a maybe second choice and then they dropped out of the race. And there are things coming out about that person now that tell me they would have been a bad choice. Then there is Mr. In the Race, Not in the Race, Oh, sorry, I’m back in again. It is looking like it will be Tom Tiffany and Francesca Hong on the ballot in November. I don’t feel there is a choice there, I would prefer neither. So maybe I just vote for my first choice and see what happens. Their name is still on the ballot. At least I know who I am voting for as Lt. Governor.
I also have what I think is a good choice for the 7th District Congressional Race. I met them last fall and liked them then. I like them still. Not sure what their chances are in the primary though with so many people running.
That brings us to state races for Secretary of State and Treasurer. I think some of the candidates need a job description to read so they understand what people in those positions actually do. At this point, I feel like many of the candidates for those positions don’t. Maybe they should all have to take a test to see if they are capable of doing the job rather than just talking about it.
When it comes to more local races, many only have one candidate running per party in the primary, and some have no candidates. There is one case where I will vote for the other guy because of who I don’t want to win versus who I do.
I encourage everyone to get out and vote next Tuesday in the primary. These elections are important. You can’t just wait until November. Maybe if everyone makes good choices now, we will have something to choose from in November rather than the lesser of two evils, which so many elections have been lately.
