Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met on Monday, October 21, 2024, at 6:45 p.m. in Curtiss Community Center. Roll Call was conducted by answering the questions of a) “What are you currently working on?” b) “Have you signed up or attended a quilt class?” Several members are attending area classes. If interested in attending a class, seek out the local quilt shops and ask about class schedules. Why attend a class? You can learn from experts, connect with other quilters and learn new tips and good practices. If you are experiencing a sewing funk, then try out a class and it could be the ticket to getting back to being inspired. There are some classes where all the tools are provided and you just need to show up.

Quilt member Kay Rinehart demonstrated how to make Playing Card Holders from old CD’s and fabric. These are great for children to hold multiple cards or someone with arthritic hands.

Next Sew Day is Saturday, November 23 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Curtiss Community Center. Text or call (262)497-4780 if interested or need more details. All quilters are welcome.

Monthly Tip: What is the best stitch length for walking foot quilting? Generally, a stitch length of 2.5 to 3.0 mm is used for straight line quilting, allowing the layers of fabric to move smoothly under the needle.

Meeting adjourned at 8:40 p.m. Curtiss Corners Quilt Club is on Facebook. Check it out for club news.
