Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met Monday, September 19, 2025 at 7 p.m. in Curtiss Community Center with 16 members attending.
On August 2, 2025 the club held its 2025 quilt show. Highlights from the show include donation of $404 and supply of dog bandanas and cat mats to Clark County Humane Society and quilt presentation to City of Owen recognizing its 100th birthday. 162 persons attended the one-day show.
Mark your calendar and save the date for the 2026 quilt show which is August 1, 2026. The show’s theme is 250 Years of Stars, Stripes and Stitches and will feature a yearlong service project to create quilts for Never Forgotten Honor Flights.
Club member Lynn demonstrated step by step on how to install a hidden zipper for pillow cover. A nice alternative to an envelope method.
Each year the club has a challenge project. For this year each member randomly chose a bag containing a panel. The panel must be used to sew a quilt measuring 40x60 inches or larger. Completed quilts are due at May 2026 meeting.
Since its beginning Curtiss Corners Quilt Club adopted the tumbling block as its theme block. Current club members will honor this by creating a tumbling block quilt for use at club events and shows. Templates and directions were distributed to current members who will select black, red and cream fabrics to make their blocks. The club will gather at its October Sew Day to sew blocks together.
Monthly Tip: Get organized. Store all your UFOs (Unfinished Objects) in an easy to find place. Make sure all fabrics, sewn units, tools and instructions for each project are on hand.
Meeting adjourned at 8:22 p.m. Next meeting is Monday, October 20 at 7 p.m. at Curtiss Community Center. Stay up to date on club news by finding Curtiss Corners Quilt Club on Facebook.
