Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met Monday, December 15, 2025 for its Christmas party with 16 members attending. At this annual event a presidential banner is presented to the President. A committee decides on pattern and color of blocks and distributes block instructions to club members. Each member completes and signs the quilt square then returns to the committee which arranges blocks, quilts and finishes the banner.
For 2025 President Kay was presented with a quilt in her chosen colors of maroon and burgundy. Members pieced blocks to reflect the image of a dog bone in cream or muslin fabric offering a perfect place for signatures. The quilt represents the yearlong community service project which Kay coordinated to support Clark County Humane Society.
New for 2026 is a quilt show held on Saturday, June 20, 2026 in conjunction with Withee Days celebration. The show will feature a community service project for Never Forgotten Honor Flight. Monthly Tip: If you stash or inherit thread, stash only what you can use in the next 5 years, not a lifetime. Thread will degrade over time but save those pretty wood spools to use for decoration.
Trying to keep all those crazy spools and bobbins in check but they end up all tangled, messy and hard to use. Here are a few quick tips:
Find the right storage solutions that work for you. Compartment boxes to hold bobbins or small skeins. Decorative jars and baskets for display. Pegboards to keep threads at hand and visible. Keep thread, fabric and pattern for specific project all together in one container. Zip-top bags protect threads and keep them from getting messy.
