Curtiss Corners Quilt Club met on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 6:45 p.m. in Curtiss Community Center. Final preparations are being made for the upcoming Quilt Show on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Quilt member Donna Reamer demonstrated how to add a hanging sleeve to a quilt.

2024 Quilt Show is Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Curtiss Community Center. Events include quilts on display, demonstrations, craft sale, kids corner, community service display, vendors and lunch.

Demonstration schedule is:

10 a.m. T-Shirt Quilts: Becky Schmelzer

11 a.m. Teddy Bears & Foster Care Community Service Project

12 p.m. History of Curtiss Corners Quilt Club: LaVerna Marcott and club members

1 p.m. Quilt Binding: Mavis Wood

2 p.m. Slow Stitching: Lynn Van Winkle and Sandi Petke

3 p.m. Creative Uses for Binding Tool: Carol Sackman

Sewing machine technician and dealer Marvin Nolt is conducting light cleanings on sewing machines; for a special show price you can have your machine cleaned while you visit displays and demonstrations.

Next Sew Day is Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Curtiss Community Center. Text or call (262)497-4780 if interested or need more details. All quilters are welcome.

Monthly Tip: Sewing machine needles are not indestructible. The sewing life of a needle is 8 hours. Points get dull from use and may get bent from hitting pins. The needle point will become worn and stitch quality may become compromised. Keep a variety of needles on hand to change regularly. A good rule of thumb is to use a new needle at the start of every project.
