Darlene L. Kowalski, age 86, of Withee, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Stanislaus Michael Antony will officiate. Inurnment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Darlene was born on December 11, 1938, the daughter of Frank and Kunda (Drollshagen) Brodbeck in the town of Holway, Taylor County. She graduated from Owen-Withee High School in 1956. Darlene was united in marriage to Frank Kowalski on October 27, 1956 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2025.
Darlene worked at the Withee Drug Store and Dairyland Animal Clinic in Owen. She was a long time member of Holy Rosary and a member of the Altar Guild and PCCW. Darlene also enjoyed watching the Packers and baking, especially breads.
Darlene is survived by her son, Michael (Brenda) of Independence and step-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters: Barbara (Scott) Ramberg and Margaret Strohkirch, both of Withee.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two brothers: Arthur and Frank Brodbeck.
