For local area residents, the unofficial start of summer begins with the opening of the local pool! The Thorp Aquatic Center opened Tuesday, May 28 with official summer season hours of 12 p.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Sunday (weather permitting.) All individuals over the age of one year who enter the pool are required to pay a daily admission fee of $5 and children under seven years of age MUST be accompanied by a caregiver who is at least 13 years old to enter the pool area. Season pool passes can be purchased at Thorp City Hall during their regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Prices for Thorp residents include: $45 for an individual pass or $140 for a family pass or for non-residents the prices are slightly higher at $60 for individual passes or $180 for a family pass. Ten-day punch cards can also be purchased at the pool or City Hall for $40.
Aquatics manager Jacob Barth mentions that he is excited to be back for another promising season with a full staff and adds that the Aquatic Center’s Swim Diaper Policy will be enforced this year. “We are making it mandatory for all children who aren't toilet trained to wear a swim diaper. We have swim diapers available for purchase, $1,” Barth says.
Barth adds that for the 2024 season, the concession stand has two new food items- hot dogs and chicken strips! Make sure to stop by and check them out!
