Donna Lee Tabbert, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Hanson Assisted Living in Stevensville, MI.
She was born on September 20, 1931, in Waukegan, IL to Don and Hazel (Loy) Schley. She attended school in Wadsworth and stayed with her grandparents while her parents bought a farm in Owen, Wisconsin. She married Bernard Francis Tabbert at the First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan in 1953 and they made their home on Greenwood Ave. Donna was a faithful member of that church for 50 years. After moving to Marinette, WI to be near her daughter, she attended Pioneer Presbyterian Church of Marinette. Toward the later part of her life Donna was fortunate to have a wonderful time living with her cousin and best friend, Mary Wilson.
She is survived by her older sister Carol; her younger sister Nancy (Salmela); her brother William “Bill” Schley; daughter Susan (Darwin Brown); David (Barbara Kelly) Tabbert. Donna has three grandchildren, Christopher Brown, Kira Brown, and Kelsey Tabbert. She also has three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan, Waukegan, IL.
