Dedication of the memorial to soldiers, sailors, and marines from the Village of Withee and county tributary, who were engaged in the late war, will take place November 24.
95 Years Ago – November 20, 1930
Dancing on Sunday nights in Clark County was authorized by the county board following the appearance of Clarence Heil before the members last Wednesday, who argued that Sunday night dancing now is permitted in nearly all localities. The board added a stipulation which requires that dance promoters must obtain permission for Sabbath dancing from the chairman of the towns or supervisors of the cities and villages in which the dance is to be given.
85 Years Ago – November 21, 1940
A quiet wedding service read at the home of the bride amid a colorful setting of decorations of blue and white streamers was the setting Saturday afternoon, November 16, when Rosella May Frank, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Frank of Curtiss, and Edward J. Awe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Awe of Green Grove were united in a nuptial service.

On Friday night, December 1, the high school gymnasium will be spectacularly transformed into a “Winter Wonderland” in honor of the first Senior Ball sponsored by the class of 1951.
65 Years Ago – November 24, 1960
Ray Petke, rural Withee, is somewhat handicapped in his farming activities since suffering a fracture to his left arm. The injury was sustained when kicked by one of his cows.
Given away in marriage by her father, Betty Jean Molzen, became the bride of Lawrence Daniel Fagan on Saturday, October 15, 1960.
55 Years Ago – November 19, 1970
County Board members during their fall session Thursday approved the transfer of $70,000 from the general fund to the Popple River Watershed program. The money is to be used to complete the purchase of real estate in the area.
45 Years Ago – November 20, 1980
Joan Eloranta, Rt. 1, Owen, has been named an associate with the John D. Day Law Office in Spencer. Eloranta, age 25, began work at the office on September 24.
Bruce Cizik is a new employee of the Owen-Curtiss State Bank in Owen. He will be working in the accounting department.
An Owen native, Douglas J. Bergstrom, vice president and branch manager at Piper, Jaffray & Hopwood Inc., Wausau, has been named branch manager of the firm’s St. Paul-Minneapolis office, taking over duties October 10. In this promotion, Mr. Bergstrom will have 31 salesmen and 15 office employees.
35 Years Ago – November 22, 1990
The Village of Withee street crew put up the Christmas decorations last week. Four new ones were added. The Withee Lions donated the money to purchase the street light decorations.
25 Years Ago – November 22, 2000
Dr. Michael and Beth Mazzone are rejoicing upon the arrival of twin sons born on November 13 at Froedtert Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. Benjamin Michael weighed 6 lbs. 9 oz and Samuel B. weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. Proud grandparents are Ron and Millie Gehrke of Abbotsford.
15 Years Ago – November 24, 2010
The Owen-Withee Jaycees Playground Project was started approximately eight years ago in an effort to improve our local parks. The Jaycees have removed equipment felt to be unsafe and replaced it with equipment that meets the current Playground Safety Standards. Our community is currently involved with renovating our local ball park, with new lighting, fencing, bleachers, concessions and bathrooms. The Playground Project felt it was only right to also focus on the play area for children at the ball park. The Jaycees are asking community members and businesses to help them fund this worthwhile cause and benefit the kids in our communities.
A son, Easton Joe, was born on October 29, 2010 to Aaron and Kristi Ruggles of Owen. The baby boy weighed 8 lbs. 0.5 oz. and was 22 inches long.
