Ervin Martin Schafer, age 71, of Withee, passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee. Rev. Phil Beukema will officiate. Family and friends are welcome for visitation at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Ervin was born on October 28, 1953, the son of Sheldon and Alma (Skinner) Schafer in Columbus. He was the eldest of four children and worked with his father at Fall River Foundry. Ervin also enjoyed helping his brother, Lester, hauling junk. He liked mowing lawns, watching older shows on TV and sitting on his front porch.
Ervin is survived by his three siblings: Donna Schafer of Glen Flora, Lester Schafer of Withee and Debra (Clarence) Gollhardt of Withee; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends and his friend, David Boesl of Glen Flora.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Leroy Pettman.
