Now at Gilman through the end of October, a Farmers Market at Third Avenue South near Vault Village will give area residents a chance to get fresh produce close to home.

Open Wednesdays from 3 pm. to 6 p.m. through October 23, the community building initiative was spearheaded by the Gilman Development Foundation, with road closure on Third Avenue South during market hours approved by the Village Board at the June Board meeting.

Those looking to get in on the vendor side of the Farmer’s Market can do so by contacting the Gilman Development Foundation via phone or text at 715-827-0027. With six vendors at the inaugural market for this year June 19, the Gilman Farmer’s Market is a great place to get produce close to home!

Also in Village of Gilman news for June, the Improvements Committee discussed chip and crack sealing at their most recent meeting, while Clerk Candice Grunseth spoke with Dave Wierzba of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. Wierzba said there is a Community Development Investment Grant (CDIG) at present for demolition, new construction, building renovation and other improvements, as well as an IDLE Site Redevelopment Program. Wierzba was unsure on village eligibility for the programs, while low interest loans for affordable housing were available through the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA). Class A and Class B Intoxicating Liquor Licenses along with Class A and Class B Fermented Malt Beverage and Cigarette licenses were approved on the June consent agenda.

Gilman village board meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m. in the village hall. All are welcome to attend.
