The Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Longwood had a fire, which took the church early in the morning on July 23, 2024. Emmanuel congregation would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers over the past few months, along with the monetary support that has been given by many. The congregation had insurance that covered items in the church dwelling, etc. Insurance did not cover the rebuilding portion of the church itself. The members are in hopes that between fundraising efforts, donations and their own contributions, to have money to rebuild the church in some fashion.
The Emmanuel Lutheran Church has shared in ministry for the community in many ways, such as Vacation Bbible School, community free garage sale, W-O-W program, etc.
Once again, we as a church community, are in hopes of rebuilding our country church. The extent of the rebuild depends upon the amount of money we receive through the many different avenues. For you to stay updated with our progress, we are tracking donation and giving updates on our GoFundMe page. You can find this at: gofundme.com/f/rebuild-emmanuel-lutheran-church-after-fire.
Donation boxes are at the A&W’s in Withee, Colby and Spencer. Please keep your eyes open for future boxes to be set up around the Owen-Withee area. The Emmanuel Lutheran Church is looking to have a Share Night at Withee A&W on November 16, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Well’s A&W, LLC will donate a portion of the sales during this time to the church. There will be a spin-the-wheel raffle drawing that evening as well. You will be able to purchase tickets during the time from 11-7 for $5 a spin of the wheel. Your spin will get you anywhere from 5 to 50 tickets, to put into your choice of bucket(s) for the corresponding gift basket(s). Multiple gift baskets will be available to choose from.
Donation boxes will be displayed at the Longwood Fall Election Luncheon at the Emmanuel church hall on November 5, 2024. Coffee and donuts will be available from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. for $5 and 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. lunch will be served for $10. At the luncheon, there will be a bake sale where you may purchase pies and apple cider, as well as other baked goods.
Emmanuel Congregation will also have booths set up at some of the craft sales in the area cities. The church will be selling bake/crafts items for sale at these events, with proceeds going to the fire fund.
There is also a plan to have a fall/winter raffle and multiple other dinners and raffles in the upcoming year.
Thank you for your support.
