Gilman will celebrate its annual June Dairy Days festival June 19-21 with three days of family activities, food, tournaments, entertainment and community events.
The celebration begins Friday, June 19, with concessions opening at 5 p.m., with a free community meal sponsored by Gilman Cheese and served by the Gilman Fire Department. The free meal will be available to the first 500 people attending.
Other Friday activities include an ice cream social, a Little League game and a pickleball tournament beginning at 6 p.m. Live music by 8 Seconds will be featured from 7 to 10 p.m., followed by fireworks and 50/50 raffles at 10 p.m.
Saturday's fun starts early with a Poplar Grove 4-H Dairy Breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. Events throughout the day include a Little Britches Cattle Show at 9 a.m., a co-ed volleyball tournament and the first day of the men's softball tournament. A special feature of this year's celebration will be an Aspirus MedEvac helicopter display at 10 a.m. Organizers noted the helicopter display is dependent on weather conditions and emergency service needs.
Concessions will remain open throughout the day Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Afternoon activities include a cornhole tournament for Wolfpack wrestling at 1 p.m. Entertainment continues from 4 to 8 p.m. with Smoke-N-Karaoke-N-DJ and 50/50 Raffles.
Sunday meanwhile begins with a community church service at 9 a.m. led by Northland Baptist Church, the men's softball tournament concluding with its second day of competition beginning at 10 a.m. Concessions open at 11 a.m., with the annual June Dairy Days parade on Main Street at the same time, along with a chicken dinner at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Ice cream will be served by Zion Lutheran Church beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Winding down the weekend, the Gilman Community Choir will perform on stage at 12:30 p.m., the festival concluding with Wally's Pedal Pull from 2 to 4 p.m., sponsored by the Gilman Fire Department.
Organizers will also hold 50/50 raffles throughout all three days of the festival.
