Historical artifact found while trying to repair a pothole

What are believed to be steam valves that supplied steam from the John S. Owen Lumber Co. to heat the Company Store and A.R. Owen house were discovered when Ray Kilty started digging to repair a pothole at his building on West 3rd Street last Thursday. Even though the valves would be quite old, the wooden frame around them was still in good shape.
