Jerome Paul Schmitt (JP), age 69, of Owen passed away at his residence, on Wednesday October 23, 2024, surrounded by his loving daughters. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at IGYS Bar and Grill in Withee from 1-5 p.m.
Jerome Paul Schmitt was born July 2, 1955 to Cecil and Evelyn (Hautamaki) Schmitt. He grew up in Owen, graduating from Owen-Withee High School in 1973. He held various jobs throughout his lifetime from delivering papers, working on a dairy farm, traveling the west working for the railroad, as well as a few different factories throughout the years.
Jerome had many interests including hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, watching his favorite sport teams (Go Pack!), NASCAR, and watching cheesy horror flicks. He also treasured his Sunday drives through the Chequamegon.
While Jerome loved many things, there was nothing he loved more than his five daughters who survive him: Heather (Travis) Hemmer of Loyal, Shawna Schmitt of Spencer, Brooke (Dale) Lawcewicz of Thorp, Kayla Schmitt (fiancé Joren) of Ixonia and Kimberly Mohr of Thorp. He is further survived by 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. He is proceeded in death by his parents Cecil and Evelyn, and step-father Gerald Quelle.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice and their amazing team for their kindness, compassion, and care over the last several months.
