On February 22, the JV Owen-Withee Boys basketball team hosted the Stanley-Boyd Orioles in the crossover game. The Hawks were defeated 59-40. In a hard fought first half neither team pulled away. The Hawks came up with 4 steals while playing man defense. Our rebounding was strong as we got it out for a couple fastbreak baskets. Winston Poehler and Brett Baehr had 7 pts. apiece going in at the half trailing 27-24.
The second half the Hawks took care of the ball having only 3 turnovers but struggled knocking shots down. We got good looks but shot 5 of 27 from the field. The Orioles then went on an 11-1 run as the Hawks trailed 40-28 with 8 min. to play. The Blackhawks never recovered and couldn't get any closer. We did get 7 more steals and played hard till the end.
I want to thank all these guys for a fun season. They played hard and had a nice year. This is a great group of guys!
