Kay Louise Roe, age 76, of Owen, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 under the tender care of Heartland Hospice.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Elizabeth Bier will officiate. Inurnment to follow at Riverside Cemetery in Withee. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.
Kay was born on August 31, 1948, the daughter of Meredith and Betty Anderson in Minden, Nebraska. She graduated from Hildreth Public Schools in 1966 and post high school she attended Lincoln School of Commerce from 1967-1968. On August 8, 1969, she was united in marriage to Lyle Roe at United Methodist Church in Minden, Nebraska.
Kay excelled with her secretarial skills as a private secretary at the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, legal secretary for lawyers and realtors as well as U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska. She later became a bank teller, office administrator for Nazareth Lutheran and One in Christ Parish as well as ordering specialist for W-O-W weekend meals for Owen-Withee Schools. She loved knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch and took pride in starting the Prayer Shawl group at Nazareth Lutheran Church and continued to make prayer shawls as she was able. Most importantly, she loved and cherished her family.
Kay is survived by her husband: Lyle Roe of Withee; daughter: Lenita (Kory) Kluge of Baraboo; two grandchildren: Kendal and Keith Kluge. She is further survived by one brother and one sister: Larry (Sheila) Anderson of Hildreth, NE and Barbara Mae Anderson Peters of Ft. Collins, CO; a brother-in-law, Kirk Roe of Buffalo Center, IA; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Meredith and Betty Anderson; mother and father in-law: Warren and Verna Roe; grandparents: Murl and Grace Anderson, Gustuv and Nellie Aspegren; two uncles and one aunt.
