Kinser and Underly advance from primary

Feb. 18 sees Wright eliminated from Superintendent race

Results are in for the Feb. 18 primary race for superintendent. Local results largely mirrored the state as a whole, with Jill Underly and Brittany Kinser winning a spot on the April ballot. Rural townships broke even or preferred Kinser to Underly, while Jeff Wright was eliminated from April competition.
Starting with countywide totals, Chippewa County saw Brittany Kinser lead with 1,670 votes to 1,403 for Underly, with Wright receiving 852. Write-in Doug Carlson received zero votes, while there were 13 scattered write-ins.
For Clark County, results show Kinser with 801 votes overall compared to 507 for Underly and 481 for Wright. Write-in Doug Carlson received zero.
For Eau Claire County, totals shown Underly carrying handily, with 3,855 votes for Underly, Kinser receiving 2,151 votes, Jeff Wright with 1,672 votes, and 14 write-ins.
Closing out with Taylor County, vote returns show a strong preference for Kinser, with 627 votes for Kinser, 253 for Underly, and 270 for Wright, with zero write-ins.
As for results by individual municipality, Stanley in Chippewa County broke evenly for Underly and Kinser, with Underly receiving 29 votes to 28 for Kinser. Wright received 11 votes, with zero write-ins. Stanley in Clark County saw Underly get three votes and Kinser get two votes, Wright receiving zero.
In Boyd returns showed nine votes for Underly, nine for Kinser, and eight for Wright, with zero write-ins.
Results at Thorp show 52 votes for Kinser, 38 for Underly, and 13 for Wright.
At Colburn, results shown seven votes for Underly, 30 for Kinser, five for Wright, and zero write-ins.
At Delmar, returns for six for Underly, 26 for Kinser, and five for Wright, with zero write-ins.
At Edson, vote returns show 11 votes for Underly, 15 for Kinser, 13 for Wright, and zero write-ins.
At Taft, vote totals from the state superintendent’s race show five for Underly, 16 for Kinser, and six for Wright, with zero write-ins.
As for the Town of Thorp, returns show Kinser with 21 votes, Wright receiving 19 votes and Underly receiving three.
At Wilson, voters cast a total of 15 votes, with three for Underly, 10 for Kinser, and two for Wright.
At Worden the vote went to Kinser, who received 18 votes to eight for Underly and three for Wright.
Kinser and Underly will now advance to the April 1 election for state school superintendent.
