The storms that blew through Owen and Withee last Wednesday morning left much of Owen and a portion of the south side of Withee without power. Lightning took out a transformer on Owen’s main street around 6:40 a.m. Other transformers in the area were also hit. Businesses were closed for a time and summer school was cancelled for the day. Power was restored to most areas by 11:30 a.m. A lightning strike at Refuel Pantry left them, Chester’s Chicken and A&W closed for a couple of days. Numerous trees also came down in the strong winds and rain.
