Renowned artist and sculptor Scott Ford will unveil a life-size sculpture of a logger at the Old School gym during the Owen Fair.
Ford carved the life-size figure from a huge spruce tree that had grown on the Friends of the Old School lawn next to the three-story high school.
Unveiling will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 6.
The carving was done in Ford’s studio at his home in Three Lakes. Prior to the move to his home, the log dried for several years in a farm building at Esther Niedzwiecki’s Century Farm. Esther was instrumental in securing the move and carving of the huge log.
“The logger has a serious aspect as if thinking about the effects of the Wisconsin Lumber Industry,” FOSI president Laurie Shilts stated.
