The first of week of March is known as Read Across America week. Many schools including Owen-Withee Elementary school, participated in fun dress up days and activities throughout the week to celebrate. We also did a fundraiser for the school and students through a program called “Books are Fun.” Our theme this year was “Spy Theme.” Student’s asked friends and family members to donate to their families’ personal donation page to earn books for their home libraries. About 38% of the student’s participated and earned donations. Local businesses also donated to the school donation page. With all the donations received each student received two or more books to take home and keep. We held an assembly on Friday, May 1 and handed the books out. The students were all very surprised and excited to say the least. We are hopeful to participate in this fundraiser again next year and hope all of our students will receive even more books to add to their home libraries.
