More involvement in FFA Alumni would be appreciated

Dear O-W FFA parents and community residents,

The purpose of the FFA Alumni is to help support the FFA students and encourage them to pursue opportunities to grow, become better leaders, and learn. Most of the support we give them is financial. We have given the FFA students $37,000 for the conventions and conferences which help to cover hotels, transportation, and lower conference fees for families, and we have also given $44,500 in scholarships to graduating seniors and active college students.

We have a very limited active membership group that has been instrumental in getting the program off the ground, financially stable, and thriving. None of these members have children in the O-W FFA program any more. In order to maintain the level of support we have given the FFA students, more parental involvement is critical and would be greatly appreciated. Even if you help out while your child is involved during their school years, or we get a couple extra people volunteering at each event, that would be a massive help.

Our main Alumni fundraising activities are Cows Plows and Wine (July), Breakfast at the Orchard (September), and Family Farm Day (October). For students attending the Washington Leadership Conference, we also do concessions during the Baseball/Softball season (March-May) and the O-W Alumni Basketball tournament (March). We also have student-driven fundraisers/events such as the Stockwell Auction (March), Dairy Breakfast at Withee Days (June), Elementary Ag Day (October), Halloween Spooktacular (October), which members are expected to attend and help. Even events that are student-driven need help (cooking food, setting up, cleaning up).

Membership in the O-W FFA Alumni and Supporters group is FREE!

Meetings are held the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m. typically in Mr. Engel’s classroom and attendance is optional.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help during one of our events, please feel free to reach out to any O-W FFA Alumni & Supporters member.
