Muriel Gladys Nordlof passed away peacefully at the age of 97 on July 18, 2025 in Kona-Kailua, Hawaii. Muriel was born on October 23, 1927 to Irene and Clarence Hansen in Rockwood Township, Wadena, MN. She graduated from high school in 1944 in Baudette, MN. She worked jobs in the St. Paul/Minneapolis area after graduation. On April 22, 1950 she married the love of her life Donald Nordlof and they started their life and family in Baudette. Following her husband for his various jobs on the Iron Range, MN and Prairie du Chein, WI saving money to buy their dream dairy farm. In April 1959 they purchased a dairy farm five miles south of Owen, WI. There they farmed together until Donald’s death in 1976. While farming Muriel was also busy with the local homemakers club, 4-H, and attending sporting events that her children were involved in. In 1979 she started working as a nurses aide at the Clark County Health Care Center until her retirement. She formed several friendships while working there and had many adventures with them. She loved sewing and was known for her famous homemade cinnamon rolls. In November 1997 she packed up her sewing machine and moved to Kailua-Kona where she lived out the rest of her days enjoying the beautiful weather and family.
Muriel is survived by her children: Michael of Kailua-Kona, HI; Susan (Bill) Devine of Owen, WI; Jayne (Bob) Gay of Waupaca, WI; and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Lam; her sisters Marjorie Haun, Dorthy Hornsby and Arlene Bryson; and sister-in-law Mabel Nordlof. She is survived by 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son Robert, sister Virginia, granddaughter Sadie, daughter-in-law Dearie Nordlof, and several in-laws.
A graveside service at Riverside Cemetery in Withee, WI for immediate family will be at a future date.
