New Found Land Counseling LLC would like to help with your mental health needs

New Found Land Counseling LLC opened their doors in Owen in August 2024. You can find Licensed Professional Counselor Alexandra Bochte and her intern Megan Wilczek, along with therapy dog in training Barley and therapy cat in training Toast, at 307 West 3rd Street. Their location has two offices and a waiting area.

They provide a variety of mental health services, including treatment for anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. Both consider it to be a Christian practice. Alexandra and Megan are willing to work with adults and children, individually, as a family, or in couples therapy. You can visit them in person or virtually. They are set up to take insurance, but you may also private pay.

They set up their services in the area because they both live here, but they also see a lot of needs for mental health treatment, both here and in the smaller communities surrounding Owen. Alexandra and Megan met through prior jobs when Megan was teaching a parenting class and Alexandra was doing counseling. Alexandra previously was doing virtual counseling in Milwaukee. Alexandra has her masters in Counseling and Megan is working on her degree and should have it completed by next summer.

So far, most of their patients have come through referrals or word of mouth. They don’t have a receptionist, so ask you to contact them by phone at 414-295-9995 to set up an appointment, as the office door might be locked if they are counseling a patient. You can also contact them by email, through their website, or on Facebook. Alexandra and Megan are currently scheduling appointments from 7 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Their current clients range in age from 4-60.

Megan works mostly with parents and other adults. She said, “Mental health impacts all facets of life.” It is necessary to help people do what they need to do in life. Alexandra works mostly with abused and neglected children. She said, “I found I was good at it and it is a way to help.” Megan has seen the impact on everyday life. She said, “Healing brings life changes.”

They currently have both a therapy dog and therapy cat in training. The cat, Toast, can’t be certified until she is a year old. She has suffered her own trauma and gets around quite well on three legs.
