Dorchester’s village board approved the 2025 budget and tax levy at its most recent November board meeting. Overall expenses increased 28.7 percent from the 2024 budget, going from approximately $871,000 to $1.21 million in 2025. The property tax levy saw a corresponding increase, going from about $396,000 in 2024 to approximately $529,000 in 2025, an increase of 33.4 percent.

The City of Stanley held a public hearing on Nov. 18 to discuss a rezoning application submitted by N&P Properties of Boyd. The request sought to rezone property located on Eighth Avenue and Carter Road in Stanley from A-1 Agricultural District to R-4 Multiple Family District. (Paul) Close plans to initiate the development of the proposed multi-family housing project along Carter Road with Phase 1, which will involve the construction of eight multi-family units, scheduled to begin in Spring 2025. Subsequent phases, Phases 2 through 5, are projected to span from 2028 to 2034 and will encompass the development of an additional 27 multi-family lots. At the council meeting held later that evening, the Stanley City Council approved the rezoning application.
A business on South Broadway has a new name and ownership. Formerly known as South Town Auto Repair, the business at 550 South Broadway will now be known as J3 Racing and Automotive, owned by Justin Schwarz.
The newly repaired highway sign for BP and McDonalds on South Broadway welcomed drivers to town last week on South Broadway. The highway sign was installed Wednesday by KDN Signs after post repair earlier this fall.
