The Loyal School District had to relocate students to another classroom after having an issue with a gas smell in the 4K rooms and upper elementary hallway coming from the air handler above the 4K rooms. The district is not holding classes in the 4K rooms until the issue is completely resolved.

The Granton Area School District and Childcare Center were closed Tuesday as village employees worked to repair a main water line break by the school.

After listening to thoughts and concerns raised by parents, students and staff about a potential basketball co-op with the Granton Area School District beginning this fall, the Greenwood School Board discussed and made the decision to begin a co-op program with Granton that will continue to be evaluated as talks to begin the consolidation process with the Loyal School District continue.

An Abbotsford man accused of murdering his two daughters and attempting to kill his wife last summer has pled not guilty due to mental disease or defect. Manuel Victor Gomez-Acosta, 30, was in Clark County Circuit Court last Wednesday to face two charges of first-degree homicide and one charge of attempted first-degree homicide following an incident at his family’s home in Abbotsford on July 5 of last year.

Library director Jenny Jochimsen told the council that the Clark County Library Committee recently met with State Sen. Jesse James and Rep. Karen Hurd about the possibility of changing state law so that Clark County can collect money from Marathon County for the neighboring county’s residents who use Clark County’s libraries. Because Marathon County has a unified system that is paid for with county tax dollars, it does not legally have to compensate Clark County for the money it spends serving patrons from Marathon County.

The Stanley-Boyd Schools Board of Education received an update from CESA 10 on the district office relocation at its regular Board meeting Monday, January 27. Still in the planning stages with no final decision, two different options were brought before the board. The first, option 1A, would involve 10,115 square feet and cost an estimated $4 to $4.5 million. The second, option 2A, would involve 7,800 square feet and cost an estimated $3 to $3.5 million.
