On the road to consolidation, the members of the Loyal and Greenwood boards, as well as the school district’s administration have all been asked an important question numerous times: Which school buildings will be used for which purpose? With the approval of a request for proposal (RFP), the boards may have an answer to that question—as well as an idea of what a consolidated district will look like—by April of next year. During a joint board meeting held on Sunday night, several topics were discussed as the two districts begin work to hammer out the details of what consolidation will look like for Loyal and Greenwood. This included topics ranging from the timeline to consolidation, to the creation of ad hoc committees, and to the approval of a facility study.
After nearly two years of planning and fundraising, the much-anticipated project to replace the “Welcome to Greenwood” sign is complete. The Greenwood Main Street Committee was aware of the deterioration of the current signs for many years and was doing their best to repair and maintain them within their budget. The total cost of the project was just under $59,000.

Our Savior’s Lutheran is soon to celebrate a major milestone—140 years as a church congregation! Taking place Saturday, August 9 and Sunday, August 10 at 147 East Fourth Avenue, the 140th anniversary will include church tours, two church services, a special program, outdoor fellowship, and lunch.
It started as an open-air structure in Chapman Park. With $20,000 in investment by the Stanley Sportsman’s Club, it’s now enclosed and outfitted for appliances. Located near the tennis courts, the Stanley Sportsman’s Memorial Club Building was turned over to the city on Friday, August 1.
