After concerns were raised about overcrowded rental properties in Abbotsford, the city council agreed last week to look at tightening the restrictions on the number of people per household allowed by the city’s ordinance.

The Thorp Cardinals Esports (electronic sports) club qualified for the WIHSEA State Championships in Fortnite, which will be played on February 26. The Cardinals will also be competing for the WIHSEA state title in Mario Cart 8 next month.

In 2023, the D.R. Moon Memorial Library launched a capital campaign to fund its expansion and renovation project, with a target of $4.5 million. Nearly a year later, their plans received a significant boost when in October 2024, the Library was awarded a grant from Governor Tony Evers totaling $4,137,056. While this grant brought the Library closer to its goal, additional funding is still needed to fully realize the project. At the February 17 Council meeting, the Stanley City Council approved borrowing $500,000 to fund the D.R. Moon Library Expansion and Renovation Project.
The Town of Thorp addressed important personnel matters at the February 12 meeting, including the job duties and descriptions for town employees, focusing on the current employee’s responsibilities, work hours and lunch break requirements. On February 19, a construction meeting was held at the new town hall, where the board did a walkthrough of the new town hall and garage. Here the board announced Chairman Andruszkiewicz’s resignation, effective February 14. The resignation followed the contentious February 12 meeting on employee job duties. Andruskiewicz expressed that the situation had become overwhelming.
