After local residents endured four years and eight months of not having a bridge the Kington Road/Spring Lane bridge over Nelson Creek was finally completed on May 6. The bridge is located in the town of Beaver, about eight miles north of Loyal.

The Dorchester Village Board approved a Class B combination liquor license last week for a new restaurant and bar in the old bank building on the corner of Front Street and County Road A. The application, submitted by Reese Ewert, D.B.A. Badger Boo, LLC, generated some discussion after a few board members expressed initial uncertainties about how the space was to be used.

Thorp’s City Council made a motion to deny Staab Construction Corporation’s latest pay application for the city’s water treatment plant upgrade project during its monthly meeting at City Hall on Monday, May 12. The pay application was for $78,868.90. The project was approved for a top end budget of $9 million, with the city already paying out over $8.6 million in fees.

A new business has joined the heart of downtown Stanley as the Stanley Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, May 9, to welcome White Barn Realty to the community. The real estate firm, located at 213¼ N. Broadway Street, Stanley, is owned and operated by Courtney Luzinski and Alicia Soper.
