Abbotsford will continue to fluoridate its water after the city council voted 5-2 Monday to reject a resolution that called for removing a substance that has long been used to prevent tooth decay in the general populace.

The School District of Thorp’s Board of Education reviewed and approved the preliminary budget for the 2025-26 academic year on Wednesday, October 29, during their annual meeting. The property valuation for the School District of Thorp is currently projected to be $514,859,856. This represents an increase of over $100 million compared to last year. Total expenditures are projected to be $9,075,655.07. The 2025-26 proposed mill rate is $5.62, down from last year’s mill rate of $6.20.

Down to no “official” water department employees, the Stanley City Council on Wednesday voted to spend $177,135 with two outside contractors to keep the water plant up and running for the next three months. In a special meeting Wednesday, October 29 that was at times tense, the council vote was unanimous to contract with Donohue & Associates at a cost of $72,400 and J.F. Ahern in the amount of $104,735.
On October 16, 2025 DNR Fisheries delivered over 6,000 extended growth walleyes for stock at Otter Lake.
