Representatives from Frontier Communications apologized to Abbotsford city officials on Monday for allowing their transmission lines to become traffic hazards and promised to do a better job in the future of maintaining their facilities within the city.

U.S. Ag Secretary Brooke Rollins and 7th Congressional District hopeful Michael Alfonso toured Amy and Sander Penterman’s dairy farm, Dutch Dairy Farm LLC just outside of Thorp on Monday. The two politicians fielded questions surrounding immigration, data centers, government spending and how to preserve Wisconsin’s ag industry for the next generation.
Due to continued staffing issues, the Thorp Public Library hours will be changing again in August. For August, there will be no change to current library hours on Wednesdays and Fridays. On Thursdays the Thorp Public Library will be open but will be closing early at 5 p.m. The library will also close early at 5 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. The library will be closed Saturday, August 15.
The 18Wheels Motorcycle Association Backroad Riders of Central Wisconsin held their 4th Annual Memorial Ride at the Thorp American Legion Hall on July 25. The event served as a memorial for Joseph “YoYo” L. Knox, a navy veteran and member of the 18Wheels Motorcycle Association. Over $2,600 was raised to support veteran causes.
