Norbert “Norby” P. Pabich, age 95, of Owen, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
A Funeral Service with a Military Salute, Eulogy and Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen with Father Stanislaus Michael Antony and Father John Mano officiating. Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee with Military Honors provided by Owen American Legion Post #123, Owen-Withee Vets Club, Thorp VFW Post #9057 and Lublin American Legion Post #547. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.
Norby was born on January 18, 1930, the son of Peter and Mary (Salwach) Pabich in the Town of Reseburg. He attended Withee schools. Norby served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-52. On December 12, 1953, he was united in marriage to Jean Mahoney at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. She preceded him in death on September 26, 2004.
Norby and Jean purchased The Master Package in 1976 and expanded the corporation in Menomonie. He was a businessman, community leader and entrepreneur. This was evident as he served on the Owen City Council representing the First Ward for 20 years. Norby also served on the board of directors for Meadowview Golf Course for 20 years. He was a 69 year member of the American Legion, active member of both Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Menomonie and the Holy Name Society. Most importantly, Norby loved his community and loved and cherished his family.
Norby is survived by three of his four children: Lynn Verdieck of Menomonie, WI, Paul (Karen) Pabich of Sour Lake, TX and Mark (Jody) Pabich of Menomonie, WI; seven grandchildren: Ben (Jayda) Pabich and their daughter, Parker Jo, Hayley (Jeramey) Nagy with a daughter on the way, Kaitlyn (Chris) Garrison and their children, Holden and Bowen, Tyler Pabich (fiancée, Jesseca), Allison Pabich, Christopher (Jolayne) Pabich and Connor Pabich. He is further survived by two brothers: Philip (Jackie) Pabich of Capitola, CA and Patrick (Mary Lou) Pabich of Altoona, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; his daughter, Ann; his sister, Audrey (Fred) Johnson and his brother, Jerry (Marian) Pabich.
