We have 28 students involved in the upcoming O-W Theater Department performances of After Happily Ever After by Amanda Burris, Julia Grove and Lauren Ohler. Performance dates are Friday and Saturday April 4 and 5 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at the O-W High School gym. Directed by Elizabeth Bier, in conjunction with the Woodgrove Workers 4-H drama program led by Julie Van Ark. Admission is $2/person. We will have raffle baskets and fan-o-grams again this year, with all proceeds helping directly support our theater program. If you want to donate a raffle basket, please let Julie Van Ark know and drop it off to the high school office by Wednesday, April 2.

This is not the first time some of these students have been cast in this play. Intended for the O-W 2020 Spring season, with just a few weeks to performances, the COVID-19 pandemic shut down classes and performances. Students who five years ago were cast as dwarves are now in leading roles. Come join us for this fun fairytale romp and the end of the reign of “the play that never happened.”

Play synopsis: What happens after the oh-so-brave prince slays the dragon, swash-buckles his way into the castle, saves the damsel-in-distress, and lives happily ever after? Prince Charming gets kidnapped! With the kingdom in panic, the dimwitted Squire Squdge is determined to find Prince Charming to prove his knightliness to the kingdom. With the help of Lulu, the unhygienic and less-than-ladylike town wench, the ever eager duo team up to interrogate the notorious villains of the kingdom. After the unlikely (and very lucky) discovery of Prince Charming, the ultimate fight breaks out between our not-so-classic heroes and our timeless villains. Featuring an angry mob in search of a witch and an on-going bet between our Storyteller, the story’s Fiend, and Rumpel, only the cast of After Happily Ever After can make this new take so dazzling!
