Emma Brossow is a thirteen-year-old student at Owen-Withee. Last year (23/24 school year) I had the privilege of being one of Emma’s teachers. It didn’t take long for me to realize what an amazing writer she is. However, it wasn’t until our unit on poetry that I realized just how much of an impact her writing had on herself and others. We submitted one of Emma’s poems for a poetry contest. No surprise, she won! Since then, she has submitted other pieces of her writing to other publications and has received recognition and awards.
On January 7, 2025, Owen-Withee received a book entitled, “The Power of Poetry.” I fervently searched the table of contents and found it…Emma Brossow (13), Owen, Page 102. It is not an easy or minor task to be published even as a part of a large group collection. Emma and I have discussed working together on putting a collection of her own works together for a book and I have no doubt that we will see much more from this student and published author for years to come.
