On Friday, May 8 Prevail Bank held a Shred Day event while the City of Owen did a Brat Fry to raise funds for the new playground equipment to be installed at Mill Pond Park, soon to be Prevail Park.
People brought in boxes of paper to be shredded. Prevail will donate $1 per pound of paper, up to $1,000. In addition, they had a donation box where people could drop donations.
At the same time, the city of Owen held a Brat Fry in the parking lot, the first of what Prevail hopes will be many during the summer, hosted by a variety of organizations. They sold brats, hot dogs, chips, water, soda and cookies. The city also had their playground donation jar available for people to drop a few dollars into. A picture of the new playground equipment was on the table so people could see what they were donating toward.
