Turning paper into something powerful, Prevail Bank’s Community Shred Day in Owen raised $1,131 for Friends of the Old School (FOSI), a nonprofit historical society organized to promote local history and provide community programs.
Prevail Bank pledged to donate $1 for every pound of paper shredded, up to $1,000—and the community rose to the challenge, bringing in a 1,107 pounds of documents to be safely destroyed and recycled. True to its pledge, Prevail Bank gifted $1,000; the public donated an additional $131.
A special check presentation was held at Prevail Bank’s Owen branch. Laurie Shilts and Nancy Amacher accepted the donation on behalf of FOSI.
“This event was a win-win,” said Susa. “We helped people protect their personal information while supporting a cause that makes a real difference right here in our community.”
This year, Prevail Bank’s nine Community Shred Day events collected and shredded nearly nine tons of paper, resulting in $11,387 in donations to nine nonprofits.
Prevail Bank continues to seek meaningful ways to give back and strengthen the communities it serves. From fundraising events to volunteer efforts, the bank remains committed to making central Wisconsin a better place to live, work, and thrive.
