The American Red Cross Blood Drive was held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen. The drive collected 58 units, short of the goal of 65 units. Those achieving milestones were Edwin Nolt and James Mauel, 10 gallons; Matthew Hoover, 9 gallons; Ina Hoover, 5 gallons; Matthew Nolt, 4 gallons; Marvin Shirk, 3 gallons; Susan Sholes, 2 gallons; and Carrie Heltsley, 1 gallon. We had five first time donors, Brooke Knutson, Miriam Horst, Dakota Miller, Kathryn Leid and Brian Bredlau. Thank you to everyone for stepping up to donate the gift of life.
Our dedicated volunteers workers for the blood drive were: Shirley Brecht, Carol Oryszczyn, Che Che Myher, Sue Koltis, Chriss Plautz, Sue Struensee, Marilyn Borgeson, Sue Sholes, Linda Orlikowski, Laurie Shilts, Dottie Bjornstad, and John and Linda Barna.
Everyone enjoyed ice cream treats donated by the Owen Free Masons (Owen Masonic Lodge) and the delicious homemade eclairs, provided by Noel Barteck. The use of a freezer for the day was donated by Northwoods Sales. Che Che Myer donated crackers, Red Cross again brought the packaged treats, water and juice with Prevail Bank donating napkins, Nasonville Dairy donated the cheese trays, Clark County Dairy Promotion donated the milk, and Clark County Rehab and Living Center donated the use of their facility. Thank you to all.
The next blood drive will be Tuesday, October 7, 2025, in the multi-purpose room at the Clark County Rehabilitation & Living Center in Owen. Please consider scheduling an appointment to donate blood in advance. If you can’t keep your appointment, please cancel 24 hours in advance so someone else may fill that spot. For those who can’t make an appointment, mid-afternoon is usually a good time for walk-ins. You can use Rapid Pass to make appointments and also speed up the donation process. For appointments or to volunteer, please call me at: 715-229-4320.
Again, to everyone who helped in any way, thank you!
