Hastings’ newest choir the River Valley Chorale held its first concert on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2024 at Hastings High School. The choir launched in September with the support of the Hastings Prescott Arts Council (HPAC) under the direction of Artistic Director Ryan McCoy. The choir consists of community members from high school students to adults of all ages no matter experience or skill level.
The Chorale sang holiday songs ranging from the classics like Season of Light and Believe to the satirical like The Twelve Days After Christmas, a parody of The Twelve Days of Christmas that pokes fun at the various avian gifts. The chorus was accompanied by former high school choir director Lin Warren. Other accompanists were Sarah Lockwood on the piano, Kathy Warren and Cheryl Read on the flute, Michelle Braun on the sleigh bells and blocks and Michelle Doree on the sleigh bells.
The next concert for the River Valley Chorale will be their Spring concert held on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at 2 p.m. River Valley Chorale’s concerts are free to attend.
The River Valley Chorale rehearses weekly at Hastings Middle School during the academic year and is open to new members. To schedule a vocal screening for placement within the choir, visit https://www.rivervalleychorale.com/
