The football playoff brackets were announced with Spring Valley, Prescott and Ellsworth each qualifying. Spring Valley polished off a perfect 9-0 season with a 21-3 win over Glenwood City and secured a No. 1 seed in the Division 7 playoffs. The Cardinals line up against No. 8 seeded Whitehall on Friday. The win over Glenwood City also clinched the outright Dunn-St. Croix Conference championship for Spring Valley.

Prescott got the best of Ellsworth in the Highway 10 rivalry for the first time since 2015 by a score of 28-14. Prescott finished the regular season 8-1 and are the No. 4 seed in Division 4, taking on No. 5 Seymour.

Ellsworth finished the year 6-3 and landed at the No. 6 seed in the Division 4 playoffs. They take on No. 3 Mosinee on Friday.

River Falls ended its season after a 27-21 loss to Wausau West. The Wildcats finished 3-6 on the year. Elmwood/Plum City also did not make the playoff cut, but did end the year with a 33-7 win to finish the year at 2-7.

Volleyball

The volleyball playoffs are also all set up and ready to be played. Finishing the year at 28-8, River Falls secured a No. 2 seed in Division 1, earning a bye until Saturday when the team will take on the winner of Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln.

EPC and Spring Valley also earned first round byes in the Division 4 playoffs, with EPC taking a No. 3 seed and Spring Valley a No. 4 seed. Spring Valley takes on No. 5 Clear Lake on Thursday and EPC the winner of Ladysmith and Glenwood City on Thursday.

Ellsworth and Prescott each play in the first round Oct. 22, with No. 8 seed in Division 2 Ellsworth matching up with No. 9 Hayward and No. 10 seed in Division 3 Prescott taking on Elk Mound on the road.

Cross Country

It was conference championship week for cross country, with Prescott taking fourth in the Middle Border Conference boys race and fifth in the girls race. Kyra Dix, who has been nothing short of spectacular for Prescott this season, took fourth place individually. Amber Van Loon took 11th in the girls race as well for the Cardinals and Nolan Leask took 13th to lead the boys race for Prescott. Ellsworth took fifth in the boys race led by Noah Matzek’s seventh place finish.

River Falls took second in the boys race and sixth in the girls race at the Big Rivers Conference meet. The team saw some big individual contributions with a second-place finish from Quin Andrews, ninth from Owen Koepke and 11th from Jonah Majerus in the boys race and sixth in the girls race from Olive Halvorson.

Spring Valley placed fourth of four teams in the girls race and seventh of seven teams in the boys race at the Dunn-St. Croix Conference meet.

Boys Soccer

River Falls is headed to the playoffs with a matchup against Wausau East on Oct. 22. Wausau East is 6-7-3 on the year and will head to River Falls for the matchup.

Swim and Dive

River Falls has one last regular season matchup Thursday against Eau Claire Memorial. After that, the Wildcats have the Big Rivers Conference meet Nov. 1-2 and Sectionals on Nov. 8-9, both at Hudson.
