On Saturday, August 8 volunteers met at Sportsman Lake for Phase Two of making the public dock handicap accessible. Last October, they completed Phase One, which was building a boardwalk from the driveway to the dock. Phase Two was installing two new aluminum floating docks to connect the new walkway to the actual dock which is still in good condition. The group of volunteers worked together to get the aluminum frames put together and then took them down the boardwalk and placed them before decking the structure. Fred Subke, conservationist with the county, said that the next part will be to replace the railings on the current dock and install railings on the new floating docks, and possibly on the boardwalk.
