St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Owen has been providing a free Thanksgiving meal for the community since 2007. Members of St. Katherine’s as well as other community members help prepare and serve the complete Thanksgiving meal in the church’s beautifully decorated dining hall. Deb Marrier, who is a member of St. Katherine’s, said that Martin’s Fresh Market, Owen, cooks all the turkeys and has all the supplies ready for the meal. Several members and friends of the church gathered Thanksgiving morning to decorate and prepare the meal.

Each year those living in the Owen and Withee area who may not have a place to go for Thanksgiving look forward to this traditional gathering. The folks preparing and serving the meal also enjoy this time working together to make Thanksgiving special for the community.
