On Monday March 2, 2026 at 6:16 p.m. the Owen-Withee-Curtiss Fire and EMS District was dispatched to the Township of Green Grove for a reported structure fire. On arrival it was found that a detached two car garage was fully engulfed in flames. Members of the Owen-Withee-Curtiss Fire and EMS District began fire suppression measures. MABAS Wisconsin was activated and was called to the first box with the second box being activated for tenders for assistance. Thorp Area Fire District, Central Fire and EMS District, Loyal Fire Department, Greenwood Fire Department, Chili Fire Department, Neillsville Fire Department, Granton Fire Department, Stratford Fire Department, Spencer Fire Department, Stanley Fire Department, Clark County Sherriff’s Office, and Clark Electric were all requested to assist in the fire. The blaze extended onto the west gable end of the residence and suppression efforts were initiated in the residence itself. Members of the service were able to control the extension into the house and salvage and overhaul were initiated.
The original structure of the garage was a total loss including all vehicles and contents inside. The residence obtained moderate damage to the second story. Fire operations came to a close at 10:14 p.m. The cause of the fire is still undetermined and under investigation. The Owen-Withee-Curtiss Fire and EMS District would like to extend condolences to the family that was impacted and gratitude to our mutual aid partners.
