As many of you may know, when we returned to the area, we bought a "fixer upper" house. So, as we've worked on it and learned a lot, it always amazes me what we find as we dig into the home. It also amazes me, at times, the things we run into when we hire help. I often hear that folks have a hard time being able to hire folks to work on homes, and after working in my home and at the store, I believe I'm getting a tiny bit of understanding as to why that can be.

As I look for things worth writing about in the paper, I've become a fan of a few YouTube folks who are home inspectors and/or builders, those showing facts and not just strong opinions, and sort of follow them.  More and more I'm starting to really appreciate what they're sharing, because it gives valuable wisdom that I'd otherwise never have had access to! It has also highlighted a number of things that make me stop and ask the question, "Why?"  So, I go and do some research and find out the "why," which often has me go "Oh hey, that makes a lot of sense!"

These people have helped me do things in my own home that are helping me tremendously. I found a particular drywall professional, and they explained the process in a way that really helped me. Another explained rough carpentry in a way that connected with me. A few others shared little bits of information so I could handle electrical a bit better.  It's just amazing how much good there is, and how much that can benefit everyone. It just goes to show you how important the freedom of sharing information is to the betterment of the world.
