Timberworks Lumberjack Show entertains for the Centennial

Posted

On Saturday, August 16 the Timberworks Lumberjack Show put on three shows in Mill Pond Park. The show put two lumberjacks into competition at various events. The emcee split the audience up into two “camps” to cheer on their respective lumberjacks. Camp 9 supported Britton Cook and Camp 13 supported Hunter Issacson. Each time, a lumberjack won they got a wooden chainsaw carved bear to keep track of their points. They started off with the Single Buck event where they raced to cut a cookie off with a crosscut saw. Then they showed off their skills with axe throwing. Next, they did the Springboard Chop, doing their sawing standing on a piece of wood about eight feet off the ground. After that they had an obstacle Pole Relay race that included a chainsaw as part of the race. From there they did a Hot Saw event where they had to make three wood cookies using a modified chainsaw. After that they took a small break to show off speed carving mixed with some punny comedy, which started with them attempting to carve a rabbit and ended with a child getting a wooden chair. The last event for two of the shows was log rolling which was very entertaining. They did finally get to do speed climbing in the third show, after the poles dried out enough for it to be safe.
