Ivadeane Abegglen, longtime director of the Community United Pantry in Colby, was presented with a plaque last week on behalf of the community in recognition of her many years of dedicated service to the food pantry. After 40 years of serving as pantry director, Abegglen is retiring from that role.
Abbotsford graduates Mark and Lynn Scotch spoke about their initiative, The Organ Trail, a project designed to bring more awareness to organ donation, at the Abbotsford FEMA building last Wednesday. They created the Organ Trail as a way to increase awareness of organ donation, going on cross-country bicycle rides that follow the paths of their organ donations and giving presentations like the one on Wednesday describing their experiences with the organ donation process.
Forward Bank is proud to announce a donation of $16,000 to the Abbotsford School District to fund two new scoreboards for the baseball and softball field.

Student-athletes looking to get a leg up on the competition received some good news after the School District of Thorp’s Board of Education approved a policy change that allows Thorp High School students independent use of the weight room facilities.
Thorp Superintendent Adrian Foster shared information on the district’s Lunch Angel Fund and informed the school board the district received a $10,000 grant to help combat food insecurity.

The car wash proposed for North Broadway by Chad and Syndi Halterman of Stanley Truck Sales Inc. will have to wait for chemical analysis by the city wastewater department. The issue has to do with the city water capacity and ability to accommodate multiple car washes.
An unnamed Stanley public works city employee is on unpaid administrative leave, following a closed session discussion and council vote. The council meeting as a committee of the whole held closed session Monday, December 15 under Section 19.85(1)(f) of the state statutes, the action taken after the employee reportedly stopping coming to work.
The school road between East Fourth Avenue and East First Avenue will continue to be plowed, following approval of a formal agreement between the City of Stanley and the Stanley-Boyd Area School District at the Monday, December 15 council meeting. The road plowing agreement as approved in council puts into formal language details that had previously been confined to tacit understanding, the city providing plowing whenever snow events occur exceeding two inches in a 12-hour period.
